Vintage Cracker Box Boat

This 1946 wooden Cracker Box Race Boat has been totally rehabbed and rebuilt by racing legend Little John’s Marine & Fabrication in St. Charles Missouri. The boat was originally fabricated in 1946 and had a 392 Hemi / 260hp and ran over 90mph. After sitting idle since 1952, it was time to clear off the dust and cobwebs and update & overhaul to the latest technology.

Little John built and professionally raced drag boats and was a very talented boat designer / builder. When I showed him my old Crackerbox Boat, he got very interested in the project.
We took the motor, drive, propeller shaft, computer and gauges from a damaged Malibu ski boat. The hull was resealed, refinished, and repainted. All the wood was in great condition, and nothing needed to be replaced or changed. Today it has a new bright red paint job and is powered by a 315hp Mercruiser.

I’ve only taken it out on the water a couple of times since it was restored and has been in climate-controlled storage for the past four (4) years. This project & boat has been an absolute blast. Asking $20,000 (includes trailer).

The Carver 380 Santego combines the interior dimensions of a small motor yacht with the outdoor seating of an express cruiser. The Santego's "express bridge" layout with its step-down interior and elevated helm offered the advantages of a flybridge boat in a more stylish, low-profile package. With just one stateroom below, the Santego's single-level interior was clearly designed for entertaining. A sliding glass door leads from the cockpit into a huge full-beam salon with facing circular sofas and hi-low table on both sides. This is a U S Coast Guard Documented vessel so there is no title and no personal property tax.

This is a very nicely maintained 32' Marinette Sport Fisherman all aluminum day cruiser. 32.5' long, with a 12' beam. Unlike like most Marinettes, the sport fisherman's fly bridge is directly on top of the cabin with no sedan area. These boats are hard to find in the Midwest as they were designed with a lower center of gravity for offshore fishing. They are very popular up on the Great Lakes. This one came from the Great Lakes to Kentucky then to me here is the Alton IL pool on the Mississippi River. it has never been in salt water.

To transport this boat over the road is as easy as removing the radar arch, the bimini top, and the custom rear deck cover I made for it last year.

It cost me $3,000 to move it here from KY.

It has an Automatic / electric windlass for easy anchoring, hydraulic trim tabs to keep it up on plane while running only the engines in the mid-teens RPM wise, but it will certainly "get and go" if you are in a hurry for some reason.

It has a full winter cover, a full clear PVC bridge cover, and a custom made sun shade cover that covers the whole rear deck area. Everyone except those riders up on the front seat above the cabin have plenty of shade. That front seat though is a great place to ride and see the wonderful views the Mississippi has to offer.

This boat rides great, is easy on gas, only needs 2' of water to float, has no fiberglass bottom to blister, no structural wood to rot, etc. Marinettes are well known for their ease of maintenance and structural durability.
