Duck Boat News
Duck Boat Legislation Passes U.S.
Senate.......
Legislation intended to improve the safety of
duck boats unanimously passed the U.S. Senate on Thursday. The
bi-partisan legislation will increase the safety of duck boats
following the 2018 tragic sinking on Table Rock Lake.
On July 19, 2018, 11 people were injured and
17 died when a duck boat capsized during a thunderstorm on Table
Rock Lake near Branson, Missouri. This was one of the most
deadly boating accidents in U.S. history.
On Wednesday, the U.S. Senate Committee on
Commerce, Science & Transportation unanimously reported the
legislation as amended. The amendments include the requirement
for action logs, mandatory annual training, the consideration of
report recommendations and reports on technical changes........

Boating Legislation
U.S. House Approved Water
Infrastructure Legislation........
The U.S. House of Representatives
unanimously approved the 2020 Water Resources Development
Act this week. The legislation is expected to pass through
the Senate and be signed into law before the end of the
year.
The legislation, also known as the Water
Resources Development Act is biannual legislation that
authorizes funding for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
projects across the nation, including crucial
recreation-based water infrastructure initiatives.
The WRDA funds several policies supported
by the National Marine Manufactures Association, including
unlocking the Harbor Maintenance Fund, which can provide an
additional $2 billion in funding annually for harbor

Boating By The Numbers
More Than 25 Percent Of Americans
Boated In 2018........
The U.S. Coast Guard recently released their
National Recreational Boating Safety Survey for 2018. This
survey was mailed out to over a quarter million Americans to
form scientific estimates about recreational boaters.
In 2018, there were 11.9 million registered
boats in the United States. The survey determined that the
number of registered boats decreased approximately 4 percent
over the past ten years.
During 2018, an estimated 84.5 million
Americans -- over 25 percent of the population -- went boating.
According to the survey, almost 14.5 million households, or 11.9
percent, owned boats........

Boat Trader Launched #CleanWake
Challenge........
Boat Trader recently launched their #CleanWake
challenge on Instagram. Boat Trader says that as more new
boaters are hitting the water, #CleanWake is a timely push for
action and awareness of keeping America's waterways clean.
Boat Trader has teamed up with marine experts
and key boating influencers to start waves of conversation about
the significance of picking up trash and ways to reduce marine
debris left by recreation.
Jenny Burkett, Boat Trader's PR Manager says
that boaters are on the front line of the fight against
waterborne trash and marine debris, and currently they can
capitalize on the rapidly expanding boating audience to help out
the environment........
